How crucial is to define interface between air and water cell zones in Ansys Fluent

In a VOF model on ANSYS Fluent, defining the interface between air and water cells is crucial for enabling water flow. Here's how to ensure it's set up correctly:

  1. Capture Volume Fraction: The interface definition should accurately capture the volume fraction of each fluid (air and water) within each cell. This essentially determines how much air and water are present in a particular cell.

  2. Interface Methods: ANSYS Fluent offers various methods for interface definition, such as explicit CSF (Continuum Surface Force) or implicit methods like Geo-Reconstruct. Choose a method suitable for your specific application.

  3. Cell Initialization: During initialization, specify the initial volume fractions for air and water in each cell. This sets the starting conditions for the simulation and influences how water flows into the air zone.

  4. Monitor Interface: After running the simulation, monitor the volume fraction contours to visualize the air-water interface and ensure water is flowing as expected into the air cells.
